Mazda introduced the Protégé in 1990. The company discontinued the Protégé after the 2003 model year. Depending on the model, the Mazda Protégé 5 could output up to 170 horsepower at 6,000 revolutions per minute (rpm) and 160 foot-pounds of torque at 3,500 rpm. For the protégé to continue to operate properly, the engine needs lubrication to protect the internal components from becoming brittle and reduce harmful deposits that cause damage. The Mazda Protégé can use various types of motor oil.
Mobil 1 10W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil

- The Valvoline MaxLife Motor Oil 10W-30 works in Protégés that have high mileage. It works in temperature above 13 degrees F. The motor oil fights against friction, sludge, deposits and leaks. Deposits and sludge bond with the detergents in the motor to get them out of the vehicle. In addition, it contains seal conditioners to restore engine seal to help reduce leaks.
