How to Remove the Pulley & Power Steering Pump for a 1993 Ford Diesel

    • 1). Place a drain pan underneath the power steering pump, which is located in the top right corner of the engine block. Loosen the hoses leading into the power steering pump with a line wrench, and allow the fluid to drain into the drain pan.

    • 2). Loosen the bolts on the power steering pump using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Tilt the power steering pump toward the center of the engine, and pull the belt off of the power steering pump pulley.

    • 3). Unbolt the power steering pump from the engine block using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Place the pump on a flat work surface. Install the power steering pump pulley puller onto the center of the power steering pump pulley, and tighten it in place with the ratchet until the pulley pops off of the power steering pump.
